Guest passes overview

How guest passes work in PassPlay - passes, codes, and the lifecycle from allocation to redemption.

A guest pass is a one-time admission credit attached to a membership. Members may use the passes directly or share passes with guests; guests redeem them at your gate. PassPlay handles code generation, distribution to memberships, and tracking redemption status through the full lifecycle.

A guest pass is essentially a purpose-built redeemable benefit that can be shared with a non-member.

The model

  • A pass belongs to a membership and contains a unique Pass ID.

  • Each pass may also include an optional barcode or QR code that may be scanned or entered at time of redemption, dependent on your membership system’s capabilities.

  • A pass has a status that progresses from Unused to Redeemed.

  • A pass also has an admits value that indicates how many people one pass admits (e.g. “2 guests”) and an expiration date that controls how long it is valid.

How passes get to memberships

Similar to redeemable benefits, you create grants that target an audience (everyone, a type, a level, or specific memberships). Guest passes can also be distributed directly to members in an ad-hoc fashion from either the Passes view or from individual membership details views.

Per-membership view

To see the passes attached to a single membership (and their status), open that membership and look at the Guest passes section on its details page.
