Benefits overview

How PassPlay benefits work - standard vs. redeemable, and how they reach members.

A benefit in PassPlay is something their membership provides them with: free admission, a member-only discount, free parking, or one-time perks. Benefits show up in the PassPlay app, can be tied to a specific membership type or level, and (for redeemables) can be individually tracked through redemption.

Standard vs. redeemable

PassPlay supports two kinds of benefits:

  • Standard benefits are informational: they describe what the membership includes. Members see them in the app with details about what the specific benefit entitles them to, but PassPlay doesn’t provide any sort of redemption path. Use these for static things like “Free general admission” or “10% off in the gift shop.”

  • Redeemable benefits are membership benefits with a set quantity that can be used over time. Each time a member uses one, PassPlay records the redemption and updates the remaining balance automatically. Staff can see when individual instances were redeemed and manage their availability.

Whether redeemable benefits are available depends on the feature being enabled for your org. If you don’t see the Redeemable sub-section in the Benefits area, contact us for more information.

How benefits reach members

There are two paths:

  1. By membership type / level. A standard benefit can be scoped to one or more membership types. Anyone with a matching membership automatically inherits the benefit: no other action needed.

  2. By grant. For redeemable benefits, you create grants that target a specific audience (everyone, a type, a level, or specific memberships). Redeemable benefits can also be distributed directly to members in an ad-hoc fashion from either the Redeemable Benefits view or from individual membership details views.

Display order

Benefits show up in the app in the order set by the Benefits list page. Drag a benefit’s row to reorder; changes save automatically. The same order is used everywhere a member sees their benefit list.
