Audience builder

How to create custom audience segments.

The audience builder allows you to create and edit audiences.

Include mode

The first thing to choose in the audience builder view is the global Include Mode, which is the way rules are evaluated for that audience.

Mode

When are members selected

All rules

Each Include rule must be true and each Skip rule must be false

Any rule

Any of the Include rules can be true and each Skip rule must be false

No rules

None of the Include rules can be true and each Skip rule must be true

In the vast majority of situations, it makes the most sense to use the All rules mode, and filter memberships based on changing their individual include modes.

Rules

Rules are conditions that define whether or not a membership is added to an audience. Every audience must have at least one rule. There are four parts to each rule:

  1. Include mode - whether to skip or include a membership based on this rule

  2. Property - the aspect of the membership to compare

  3. Comparison - the way to compare the value

  4. Value - the value of the property to compare against

All Include rules are evaluated first, and then all Skip rules.

Preview

You can click the Refresh button on the preview before saving the rules to preview memberships targeted by your rules, as well as see a total count of all memberships that are targeted.

Examples

All rules

Targets all memberships with the Passport for 2 membership type, that have earned the Temporary reward but have not connected their pass to Google Wallet or Apple Wallet.

Any rules

Targets all memberships that are gift memberships, or any memberships that currently have more than 150 points, or both.

No rules

Targets all memberships that do not admit exactly 6 people and that do not have an email ending in @okczoo.org, but does target memberships that have earned over 50 points.
