Campaign recipients

Every way to choose who receives a campaign.

The Recipient type on the campaign form controls who actually receives messages.

Recipient types

Recipient type

Who it includes

All memberships

Every non-expired membership in your org. The widest possible audience.

Connected memberships

Memberships that have connected to the app or downloaded a wallet card.

Disconnected memberships

Memberships that aren’t connected via the app or wallet card.

Selected memberships

A list of specific memberships you search for and pick by hand.

Custom audience

A custom list of memberships identified based on configured rules.

New memberships

Memberships created in PassPlay since the last invite send (or since the campaign was scheduled). Pairs with the daily-recurrence option to auto-invite new sign-ups.

Selected membership type

Everyone with a specific membership type or level (e.g. all Premium members, all Family members).

Not invited memberships

Memberships that haven’t yet been sent the “getting started” invite.

Memberships with points claim

Members who have ever claimed points from a specific source. Useful for targeting specifically engaged members.

Memberships with reward redemption

Members who have ever redeemed a specific reward.

Searching for individual memberships

When the recipient type is Selected memberships, you’ll see a search box that matches against:

  • Member name, email, or member ID.

  • For Email / Invitation campaigns, only memberships with an email address appear.

Click a result to add it to the recipient list. Selected recipients appear above the search box; click the × on any selected membership to remove that recipient.

Combining filters

At the moment you can’t combine recipient types in a single campaign. Future enhancements are planned to extend the available options here.

What happens at send time

When the campaign actually sends, PassPlay re-evaluates the audience using the current state of your roster:

  • “Connected memberships” reflects who is connected at the moment of send, not at scheduling time.

  • “New memberships” with daily recurrence picks up any memberships created since the last daily run.

  • “Selected memberships” sends only to the exact memberships you picked, even if their status has changed in the meantime.

This matters most for scheduled campaigns: a campaign scheduled a week out will use the membership state at the scheduled time to provide an estimated total recipient count, so don’t be surprised if the send count differs from what you saw while drafting.
